Neighbourhood blocks

For the pilot project in Zurich, areas in the districts of Aussersihl, Unterstrass, Riesbach and Seebach were selected. A decisive criterion in the selection of the pilot areas was that there is a demonstrable interest in the district. The residents and local businesses will be closely involved in the concept development for the specific area of the "neighbourhood blocks".
It started in autumn 2024 in the Aussersihl area around Anwandstrasse and in Unterstrass around Milchbuckstrasse/Langmauerstrasse. In autumn 2025, two more pilot areas will follow: Riesbach, around Dufour-/Hornbachstrasse, and Seebach, around Grünhalde-/Bühlwiesenstrasse. With the experience gained from the four pilot projects, the "neighbourhood blocks" concept will be further developed and rolled out in other urban areas in accordance with the specifications of the structural planning.
Here is an overview of the process steps of the "neighbourhood blocks" pilot project.
