Mehlschwalbenhaus für Zürich-Höngg

Der Natur- und Vogelschutzverein Höngg fördert bereits seit Langem die Mehlschwalben in Höngg - und das mit Erfolg: Rund 150 Paare dieser Zugvögel brüten jedes Jahr in den betreuten Nestern in der Nähe des Meierhofplatzes. Normalerweise brüten Mehlschwalben unter den Dächern an Häusern. Nun wollen wir ihnen aber ein eigenes Haus zur Verfügung stellen: ein Mehlschwalbenhaus. Denn unter den Dächern wird der Platz langsam knapp. Auch für den Unterhalt ist ein solches Mehlschwalbenhaus viel einfacher. Und nicht zuletzt kann man die Mehlschwalben am vorgeschlagenen Standort wunderbar beobachten - zumindest zwischen April und September, wenn sie bei uns leben. Der Standort ist ideal, da er in unmittelbarer Nähe zu bestehenden Kolonien liegt. Das ist eine wichtige Voraussetzung, damit das Mehlschwalbenhaus besiedelt wird.
