The second dialogue event took place on Monday evening, 9 March 2026 in the auditorium of the KV Zurich Business School in the presence of city councillors Simone Brander, Dr. André Odermatt and Daniel Leupi. At the event, the Office of Urban Development provided information about the process so far and the findings of the test planning as well as about the next steps in the development planning of the slaughterhouse site. The event was well attended and offered space for an exciting and constructive exchange.

Katrin Gügler, Director of the Office for Urban Development, explained the results of the test planning after a brief review of the process so far. Some of the actively involved track group members described their experiences with the process and the findings of test planning. Afterwards, the city councillors present classified the findings from their point of view and emphasised the long-term nature of the project, the importance of the public open spaces and the opening of the area for the neighbourhood as well as the importance of the commercial area.

In a first round of dialogue, those present were able to critically assess the results of the test planning and formulate open questions about them. Of particular interest were the questions on the following topics:

  • Number and variety of uses on the site

  • Needs of the population with regard to open and green spaces

  • Location of the school

  • Handling and revitalization of the central hall

After a short break, the city councillors commented on the most frequently mentioned questions. In the second round of dialogue, the participants were invited to formulate their most important recommendations for the further process. These recommendations are documented together with the questions about the test planning results and are incorporated into the final report of the test planning. This report will be published in the summer of 2026.
