   Introduction

   With the referendum of 28 November 2021, the municipal structure plans were adopted. It calls for the urban districts to be divided into smaller neighbourhood blocks and for creeping traffic to be prohibited in principle. Exceptions apply to feeder services and people with limited mobility.

   January 2022 Postulate GR No. 2022/24 Examination of areas for the realisation of neighbourhood blocks

   With the acceptance of the postulate of 19 January 2022, the city was instructed to examine areas for the introduction of neighbourhood blocks.

   2022/2023 Goals and framework conditions as well as pilot areas for Zurich

   Basic work as well as criteria and framework conditions for the city of Zurich. Analysis of potential pilot areas.

   2024-05-22 - 2024-06-25

   Spring 2024 Echo Group Workshops

   Objectives, criteria and framework conditions for pilot areas were discussed with the echo group. A proposal of the pilot areas mirrored. The pilot areas were defined by the Urban Space and Mobility Delegation.
   The Echo Group consists of higher-level interest groups as well as local institutions and associations

   2024-09-22

   September 2024 Future Initiative and Good Air Initiative

   With the referendum on 22 September 2024, the counter-proposals of the two urban climate initiatives were adopted. They demand that road areas be converted in favor of walking, cycling and public traffic as well as for greening.

   November 2024 First Forum Event

   On 23 November 2024, the first of three forum events took place in the Unterstrass pilot area. Needs assessment, clarification and concretization of locally specific goals and needs.

   January 2025 Second Forum Event

   The second forum event will take place in Unterstrass on 25 January 2025. Discussion of variants and scenarios with residents and businesses.

   In March 2025, the third forum event will take place in Unterstrass. Presentation of the implementation concept. Collection and clarification of final feedback and questions.
