We are looking for ideas and projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the pilot district in Binz and Alt-Wiedikon (see map below). For example:
✅ Neighborhood hub for e-bikes to promote emission-free mobility.
✅ Green roofs for the future: Greening flat roofs in the neighborhood to bind CO2 and improve the microclimate.
✅ Local lending network for sustainable consumption: Setting up a platform for sharing tools, household appliances, or books.
✅ Development of an app that encourages energy saving.
Projects that are climate-relevant but primarily serve private purposes—such as energy-efficient renovations to one's own home or the purchase of a private e-bike—are not eligible for funding.
Submitted ideas should serve the common good, be open, and usable by many.
Projects can be of a constructional or non-constructional nature (activities, festivals, markets), right through to networking activities aimed at local climate protection measures.
Projects can be permanent or temporary—or recurring.
In addition to specific projects, new ideas can also be introduced as prototypes. These are first tested in the district—and if they work well and enough people are willing to get involved, they can also be implemented in other places.
The project ideas submitted should not be purely profit-oriented, but should primarily be self-sustaining. Of course, projects can be economically successful in the long term!
The city administration does not implement the projects itself—that is done by the people who come up with the ideas. But it does not leave anyone to fend for themselves: the project team helps with preparation and planning—as needed and appropriate to the project.
Your project may cost up to CHF 200 000. Don't worry: we will help you estimate the costs and advise you on how to best fit your idea into the budget.
As a general rule, don't be afraid to formulate an idea that is not yet fully thought out. We will support you in improving your idea so that it has a chance of being selected.
We welcome every idea – join in!
