Short summary

What should be created?
This project is aimed at all those who will be of age during the project (born in 2009 and 2010). The young adults are given a voice and experience climate protection in the field of forces of politics and society, in lively connection with the climate projects in the neighbourhood. The starting point is a joint workshop with the simulation game postfossilCities. This game brings young adults from the neighbourhood together – to shape the climate transition themselves. In this way, the transformation to net zero can be experienced in fast motion: concrete, urgent and solution-oriented. Participants take on the roles of central actors, negotiate, wrestle for decisions, forge alliances and have an impact towards net zero. A holistic, technically sound map of the path to net zero becomes visible. In the reflection, we build a bridge to the climate projects in the pilot district and to the everyday lives of the participants. In the process, the participants discover new scope for action in their own field of activity, gain courage - and get impulses on how they can take the climate reins into their own hands as adults from now on. Follow-up activities after the workshop ensure a lively connection with the projects in the pilot district. The workshop could be held once, several times or even for all young adults in the pilot district. In this way, young adults are courageously and actively shaping their neighbourhood's path to net zero in full participation.
example
We have already conducted workshops with young and older people in Zurich and throughout Switzerland with the simulation game postfossilCities. For example, we were at WWF Zurich, the Sustainability Days of the City of Uster, the Semaine pour le Climat in Geneva, the Gymnasium Kirchenfeld in Bern or the Sustainability Week of the Zurich University of Teacher Education. The aim was always to explore the path to net zero, to experiment with measures and to jointly launch an effective approach. What is special about the project is that we are specifically targeting young adults and establishing concrete connections to the projects in the pilot district.
Are you an individual or part of a group?
We are an organization (e.g. association, foundation, educational institution, NGO)
Name
Verein Spielraum Netto-Null (Michaela Kuijvenhoven, Sabine Mehring, Markus Ulrich), Tania Schellenberg (Verein Reciprocity) and others from the postfossilCities team, networked with the pilot projects in the neighbourhood
Are you implementing the idea alone or are you still looking for comrades-in-arms?
I don't know yet
Describe the place(s)
Suitable workshop rooms in the neighbourhood, perhaps as part of a larger event (marketplace, action day, etc.), networked with projects in the pilot neighbourhood Netto-Null. In principle, it would be possible for everyone born in 2009 and 2010 to take part in the workshop.
