What should be created?
The Climate Trail is a free, publicly accessible adventure trail in the Binz/Alt-Wiedikon district. There are 8-12 interactive stations along the trail, introducing families, children and adults to climate action, net zero and sustainable living in a fun way. Each station is dedicated to a specific climate topic: from solar energy to tree diversity and soil water to thermal insulation and sustainable consumption. The stations are designed in such a way that they work without an app, registration or previous knowledge: to touch, try out, puzzle and marvel. An overarching framework story connects the stations with each other. Example: "The Binz district in 2050 — what will it look like if we act today?" At each station, children and adults collect a "climate building block" in the form of a stamp or sticker, with which they build their net-zero neighbourhood together. Examples of stations: Solar energy: A hands-on solar module that children can use to power an LED or a small wind turbine. Tree detectives: Identify trees in the neighbourhood and find out which one binds the most CO₂. Climate calculator: A weatherproof board with sliders shows how everyday decisions change the CO₂ footprint. Water in transition: Children pour water through different types of soil and experience how sealed surfaces heat up the neighborhood. My climate project: A hands-on station where visitors record what they want to change in the neighbourhood – with direct reference to the pilot neighbourhood process. The Climate Trail is to be permanent and make a long-term contribution to climate education in the district.
