Exploring the future of the neighbourhood with improvisation

What should be created?
How will we live in the future? How does technological change affect our working lives? How do we deal with demographic change, rising temperatures and a growing population? In a time of social upheaval, it is crucial that as many people as possible can actively participate in shaping the future and develop common ideas. Because those who feel powerless in complex changes withdraw. On the other hand, those who experience that the future can be shaped develop confidence and the ability to act. And what, if not improvisation, helps us not to lose our heads in this crazy world? With "No Future – Spiel mit der Zukunft", the Think and Do Tank Dezentrum and the improv theatre anundpfirsich have developed a full-length format in which futures are explored in a playful way. Together, we are currently creating evenings at the Zollhaus Theatre, where professional improv actors embody "the future" and play scenarios. The audience and a "futurologist" interact with the players and influence the events – the future becomes shapeable. At the end, we ask ourselves together: What can we do today for a desirable tomorrow? The format could be further developed for the Net-Zero pilot district and would provide inspiration for what the future could look like in a sustainable neighbourhood at all.
