What should be created?
millefoli is a community herb and tea project in the middle of the neighborhood. As an association, we grow native tea herbs and medicinal plants, and people from the neighbourhood can help with sowing, caring, harvesting and processing, discovering the diversity of local plants and gaining valuable knowledge about herbs and their effects. The harvested plants are regularly used to make fresh tea blends and other herbal products, which members receive as part of a solidarity-based subscription model. In this way, anonymous consumption becomes a communal experience: you know where the herbs come from and how they grew. A special focus is on actively anchoring the project in the pilot district: Through participation days and targeted offers for residents, we are creating low-threshold access to participation. In addition, cooperations with companies and restaurants in Binz are being sought. The harvested plants are regularly used to make fresh tea blends and other herbal products, which members receive as part of a solidarity-based subscription model. In this way, anonymous consumption becomes a communal experience: you know where the herbs come from and how they grew. The project strengthens the sense of community in the neighbourhood, creates meeting spaces and promotes urban biodiversity. At the same time, it makes a concrete contribution to reducing emissions: herbs that are produced locally and seasonally replace imported products, which often have long transport routes behind them and are industrially processed. By dispensing with long supply chains, packaging and intermediaries, resources are conserved. In addition, the project promotes a change in consumer behaviour towards more regionality and seasonality, which are important levers for a more climate-friendly lifestyle in everyday life. A herbal tea straight from the city brings us closer to nature again, reduces transport routes and still has freshness and taste. The land for the project already exists. Now we are entering the next phase and look forward to growing this lively place together with other people from the neighborhood.
