Parklets for Alt-Wiedikon: Parking lot becomes a meeting place

Idea not chosen
What should be created?
We are creating several parklets in the Alt-Wiedikon/Binz district: modular, temporary mini-recreation rooms on individual street parking lots. Instead of parking space for cars, seating, shade (e.g. sun sails), greenery (plant troughs/raised beds) and, depending on the location, small additional benefits (e.g. bicycle parking, book exchange, drinking water/refill in cooperation with local businesses) are created. The parklets are planned, designed and supervised together with residents, local businesses and neighbourhood organisations. Start as a pilot at several clearly visible locations (e.g. along Birmensdorferstrasse, Binzstrasse, Bühlstrasse). How does this reduce greenhouse gases (and improve everyday life)? - Fewer short car journeys: If public space becomes more attractive, journeys in the neighbourhood will be made more often on foot or by bike. - Leisure time without travel: Quality of stay right on the doorstep reduces the motivation to drive away for breaks/meetups. - More summer comfort: Shade and greenery create cooler micro-places in hot spells, a direct quality of life and health benefit. The effect will also be made visible (short signs "Why Parklet?" + social media stories) to enable further locations in the district.
example
Parklets as temporary recreation rooms instead of parking spaces – e.g. programs in Vienna (parklets, designed/built/maintained by residents)
Are you an individual or part of a group?

Are you implementing the idea alone or are you still looking for comrades-in-arms?
I/we implement the idea independently
Describe the place(s)
In the Alt-Wiedikon / Binz district, we would focus on road sections with high sealing and many parking spaces along Birmensdorferstrasse, Binzstrasse, Bühlstrasse. The parklets will be created selectively where cars are parked today and where many people are on foot or by bike (near shops, restaurants, neighbourhood meeting places, public transport stops).
