What should be created?
THE IDEA In workshops, Binz residents design images of the future that become a public open-air gallery under Sihlhochstrasse*. THE PLACE For many, the Sihlhochstrasse on the edge of the Binz is a place where people don't like to linger. It stands for a time when mobility was geared towards motorised individual transport. The open-air gallery is to be built under Hochstrasse. It combines concrete with nature by the river and invites people to look, reflect and exchange ideas about "Net Zero 2040". THE PEOPLE In future workshops, we invite people in Binz to share their ideas of a climate-neutral life in 2040. Children, young people, adults, senior citizens, companies and employees can participate. In short: all of them. With the future workshops, we create spaces for people to meet, exchange ideas and negotiate images of desirable futures. THE FOCUS IS ON SIMPLE, OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS: – How do we imagine life in Binz in the future? – What does a climate-neutral neighbourhood mean for our everyday lives? – What do we wish for and what do we perhaps also view critically? THE ART Artists visually implement the images of the future developed in the workshops on Sihlhochstrasse (e.g. painting, spray art or collages). The result is a gallery of the future – a total work of art in public space, based on voices from Binz. In the best case, the work of art develops radiance far beyond the neighborhood. THE CLIMATE RELEVANCE Thinking about the future allows people to discover their self-efficacy and thus take action for a net-zero future. Because if we know where we want to go, we can plan steps in the present to get there. WHY THIS PROJECT? – A place that is not very attractive today is becoming an open-air gallery with forward-looking significance. – People with different perspectives get involved, even without ready-made solutions or expertise. – The results remain visible and shape the district in the long term. – It makes visible how people think of a net-zero future in Binz. – The participatory process complements the concrete measures of the pilot district on a cultural level. *The process can also be implemented for other places.
