Community compost plant

Avatar: Reintausend Reintausend

What should be created?
According to https://zerowasteswitzerland.ch and other sources on the network, organic waste accounts for around a third of the amount of residual waste. This means that valuable raw materials end up in the garbage bag and are incinerated. Composting on site has a number of benefits: - Removal by truck is no longer necessary, noise, traffic and energy consumption are reduced - Organic waste is usually poorly combustible, energy must be supplied in the incineration plant - Decentralised composting produces valuable humus, which settles CO2 in the soil and improves the quality of the existing soil - Regular collection of organic waste by volunteers strengthens social networking in the neighbourhood - "Grounding" of the compost caretakers, soil life (which develops surprisingly quickly!) gives satisfaction Ideally, of course, in combination with a neighbourhood garden
example
Communal composting plants of the FGZ, here about 140 volunteers work together, for individual caregivers there is little effort
