Community shop for the neighbourhood

The community shop for the Binz district is creating a place for conscious, sustainable shopping directly in the residential environment. The store offers seasonal, regional and sustainably produced food and everyday products, and members have direct access and can shop around the clock. The community shop strengthens local supply, promotes social exchange in the neighbourhood and makes sustainable consumption easily accessible in everyday life. The community shop contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by relying on regional and seasonal products and thus avoiding long transport routes and energy-intensive storage. The location close to the neighbourhood allows residents to do their shopping on foot or by bike, which reduces motorised individual transport and the associated emissions. Needs-based procurement and joint organisation also reduce food waste. At the same time, the store promotes sustainable and environmentally friendly production methods of local producers with a lower CO₂ footprint.
