Stop littering: Pick up and get cash! (Read uf and get smelly!)

Avatar: Marianne Weissberg Marianne Weissberg

What should be created?
It is shocking and creepy how pet bottles and aluminum cans are carelessly thrown away throughout the neighborhood: next to the park bench, in the flower bed, on playgrounds, at the Binz train station, etc. What if picking up and returning them were finally rewarded in the future? An innovative and fun pilot neighbourhood deposit system would not only benefit the environment, but also encourage people to rethink - aha, so it's not worth just throwing away the snack bottle or the beer or energy drink can into the green! Exactly - the opposite of this is to be rewarded: I could imagine that pet bottles and aluminum cans can either be thrown in special and creatively decorated vending machines set up in the neighborhood for a cash reward. Or can also be handed in personally at collection points with volunteers on action days in exchange for instant chunks. How much and which currency would still have to be worked out... Our Zurich pilot quarter is intended to demonstrate: Aluminum and PET must finally be linked to a deposit system, because if we dispose of them properly, it will bring cash back into our wallets. The deposit campaign idea came to my mind when I remembered how in the past the Goofen in the swimming pool collected the Coke bottles lying around and could collect the deposit. Let's imitate them again!
