Advancing the thermal insulation of buildings (Project 3)

In addition to transport, greenhouse gas emissions from buildings account for more than a fifth (22.2%). How can this be reduced? To put it simply: through better insulation, i.e. thermal insulation of older houses and buildings, i.e. those built before 1990. Thermal insulation measurably contributes to minimizing the heating output in a building and thus to reducing fossil pollutant emissions. Since it is estimated that more than 80% of the residential buildings as well as the commercial and company buildings in Alt-Wiedikon were built before 1990, there is probably a clear need for thermal insulation measures. We imagine that many owners of such houses (private individuals, cooperatives, foundations, real estate companies) who have not renovated in the last 25-30 years may be interested in a thermal insulation program. Our idea: Anyone who participates in such a (specified) renovation program WITHIN TWO years will be reimbursed 20% of the costs - up to a maximum of CHF 25,000 (these figures can be adjusted by the project management). This project could also be tendered and carried out in stages in one or more streets. Examples: Haldenstrasse from Binz to Friesenbergstrasse (project 1) / Goldbrunnenstrasse from Berneggweg to Birmensdorferstrasse (project 2) / Austrasse from Steinstrasse to Uetlibergstrasse (P2) / Uetlibergstrasse from Manesseplatz to Laubegg (P2) / It is also conceivable to define the Binz part (part of the project perimeter) as a test area, although most of the buildings there are more recent.

This is one of three proposals that the neighbourhood association already proposed to the net zero project management on 11 June.
