Pets have so far been given too little consideration in climate measures, even though they are part of many households and have a strong impact on the everyday lives of their owners. The Climate Sponsors for Pets project aims to promote awareness of sustainable practices in dealing with pets and to carry ecological responsibility into the private microhabitat. The aim is to promote climate-friendly behaviour among pet owners in the neighbourhood, to raise awareness of sustainable nutrition, care and procurement in the field of pet keeping, and to build up a network of committed climate mentors who act as multipliers for environmentally conscious action. Information events and workshops such as "Sustainable feeding – thinking locally" or "Animal supplies in circulation" are planned. In addition, a digital guide with practical tips on how to reduce the ecological paw print is to be created. In cooperation with local shops, veterinarians and associations, sustainable products and services are to be promoted.
