Pilot District Net-Zero in Binz and Alt-Wiedikon
Zurich wants to become climate-neutral in the city area by 2040. In addition, a target is being set for greenhouse gas emissions that are emitted outside the city and district but are partly caused by us. That's why we are testing in the Pilot District Net-Zero in Binz and Alt-Wiedikon how residents, companies and the city administration can work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in everyday life. What works in the pilot district can inspire the whole city.
The pilot district brings together people, companies, organizations and the city administration. It offers space, support and resources to implement concrete projects in everyday life, with an impact in the neighbourhood and for the entire city. It's not about reinventing everything, but about the question: Which ideas work in practice? What processes promote voluntary engagement? What can be further developed, what needs a different approach?
The goal: to find ways to make climate protection easier, more visible and more effective in everyday life. The project invites everyone to think along, participate and try out new things.
