The platform "Participation in Zurich's future" is the participation portal of the city of Zurich.

Get involved in dialogue, have an influence, help shape the city, become active. You can do all of this in the participation portal "Taking part in Zurich's future". The

Josef-Areal "Josefina" district park project will be presented to selected stakeholders. The procedure for the coming years is outlined, the open process is explained and an invitation to the picnic of activities at the end of March is issued.

Josefina introduces herself to the general public. Ideas for the further development of the district park are welcome and will be taken up, discussed and further developed. The park development process is starting in its first cycle.

On May 15 and July 10, further exchanges will take place as part of the so-called regulars' tables.

Reflection and discussion in the large round of content developed so far as part of the successive park development "Josefina".

News about the construction phase from autumn 2026 to spring 2027

On 2 November 2026, construction work on the temporary neighbourhood park will begin. From this point on, the contracted horticultural company will secure the construction site with a fence and temporarily store and care for the plants in a depot. Afterwards, the earthworks for the park paths and the green wall to the Neue Hard will be carried out. The Josefina Park will be closed during the winter half of the year for safety reasons.
Along Viaduktstrasse near the striking elm tree, we will set up a construction site room by providing information about the project on site. Some of the current furniture will be available to you for your stay there.
The ceremonial opening with the public is planned for spring. We will inform the public about the exact date in good time.

The ideas and initiatives introduced at past participation events have not been forgotten. Even if further development takes some time at the moment, these suggestions remain present. They are collected in the "Process Herbarium".

Park development with the involvement of the population

From spring 2025, the temporary district park will be further developed together with the population. Under the name Josefina and with the support of an interdisciplinary team composed of the specialist offices Denkstatt sàrl, S2L Landschaftsarchitektur & Stadtplanung and oekoskop AG, the district park will continue to change. There is a unique opportunity to discuss and try out different demands on design in the constantly changing environment. The area is expected to be used in a variety of ways until 2029.
