The viewing of the first draft by the playground builders of Atelier Kellner took place on July 3, 2025 in the room of the GZ Seebach right next to the Leutschenpark.

The event was designed for the children, but questions were also answered by the approx. 20 adult guests from the neighborhood. For this purpose, plans of the landscape architects were also shown and the project manager explained the overall project of upgrading the park, in which the playground extension is integrated, by means of a presentation. (The presentation is available on the website of the project)

The approximately 20 children gave the model builder Magdalena their feedback directly on the model. They think the model is great and playful. They want to be able to climb through the bushes and are happy when the vegetation melts into the playground. As in the online survey, swings and slides are again mentioned as important playground equipment.

The unsealing of the square for more green spaces and more shade were also votes with consensus here. The landscape architects were able to reflect this wish on the plan. However, the Leutschenpark does not need the same offers as, for example, in the nearby Thurgauerstrasse district park (football field).

It is mentioned that the playground must be implemented promptly so that the children surveyed still benefit from it. The expansion is also very urgent due to the many newly arrived children. In addition, there will also be play opportunities for smaller children.

Some neighbors fear more noise from the expansion. The project manager counters that city parks should be lively places per se. However, the additional vegetation will help to dampen noise.

Some adults find the existing playground particularly unattractive and ask why it is not removed and completely redesigned. The barbecue area was also criticized.  According to the project team, the aim was not to redesign the park, but to upgrade it ecologically – with respect for the original planning and with additions with missing vegetation layers and new elements that contribute to the improvement.

For the event organisation in the park (Leutschenparkfest), it is important that access by car from Leutschenbachstrasse (behind the stage) is possible as before - or alternatively another solution is found. The planners will seek a solution directly with the festival committee.

It is of great importance for the neighbours of the playground that they are informed early enough about the construction planning. The restaurant in particular must be able to react to the loss of usable space at an early stage.

The project team would like to thank all children and adults present for the important inputs for further planning.
