Repairing clothes by leveraging the power of your neighbourhood

Sugar Cup (www.sugarcup.ch) is the online platform from neighbours for neighbours. Besides fostering more connection and interaction among neighbours, Sugar Cup aims to create a circular economy within neighbourhoods. For that purpose, options like giving away, sharing and selling items are already in place in the platform. Within Climathon 2022 Sugar Cup took part in the Repair Challenge, winning the 3rd place focusing particularly in answering this question:
How do we provide convenient and fast clothes repairs within neighbourhoods? In the existing platform Sugar Cup, the repair feature will give every piece of clothes a second chance while bringing Zurich communities together.
Sugar Cup has currently more than 600 users (mainly located in district 9 were it was first introduced) and will be promoted, thanks to funding from the city -UGZ Department-, to the whole city of Zurich during 2023.
In this project we aim reducing the carbon footprint by providing people easy access to close-by repairing services for their clothes. Also by reducing the need of use a motorized vehicle.
